MUNTING LIWANAG ABOUT

A FILM OF FAITH AND FANTASY

LOGLINE

When seven-year-old Daniel begins seeing a gentle girl named Mirabelle and a mysterious black cat named Silas, his mother Amy fears something is wrong. As Daniel’s condition worsens and his estranged father Dennis returns home, the family is forced to confront old wounds, lost faith, and a terrifying question: are Daniel’s visions only symptoms — or is something unseen fighting for his life?

SYNOPSIS:

Amy is a mother haunted by grief and guilt. When her young son Daniel falls inexplicably ill, the ground beneath an already fragile family begins to give way. Daniel starts seeing things no one else can: Mirabelle, a young girl who appears as a comfort and a guardian — and Silas, a black cat with glowing eyes who whispers of a forest where the pain finally ends.

As doctors search for answers, Daniel’s estranged father Dennis returns, dragging with him the family’s buried wounds and his own lost faith. What unfolds is both an intimate family drama and a quiet supernatural war: a battle between the light that wants Daniel to stay and the darkness that promises him release. Mirabelle pleads with him not to follow Silas into the forest. Daniel resists — because he wants to stay with his parents.

Against the shadow of the Mayon Volcano, in a community steeped in faith and tradition, Munting Liwanag builds toward a question every parent fears and every family must answer: when medicine, faith, and love are all tested at once — and the darkness draws close — where do we find the light? It is a story of second chances, of redemption for those brave enough to face their deepest regrets, and of a small light strong enough to hold back the dark.
